I set out to buy either a Taylor or a Martin...

Hi

I set out to buy either a Taylor or a Martin. I had my eye on a Martin HD 28 but the bass was too rubbery. I went into B Street Music in San Mateo, and after trying all the guitars in the shop I picked up a Morgan which had been mentioned by the sales person. I liked it better than any of the other guitars I've played over the past month. My wife actually made the final decision when she said that the Morgan made her body feel better than the others did.

I love this guitar...

Hi David,

I want to say again how much I love this guitar. Not only is it a great player but a beautiful instrument as well. My eye was immediately drawn to the peg head. The design is really nice and the inlay is too. I played the guitar a few times before I noticed the blue line purfling.

Wow, what a sound...

Hi David,

I have received the new DVC you sent me and it is awesome. The neck is right and the craftmanship is impeccable! Wow what a sound. How is it once you have played a Morgan all other guitars sound like they are cardboard boxes strung with rubberbands? How do you do that?!?

Thank you so much for working with me. Between you and EM Shorts guitars, I received a fantastic customer service experience. As I work in customer service, this is especially important to me. I am going to treasure this guitar. Perhaps I will get up to Vancouver and come by and see you. Although I would have to resist the urge to buy another guitar, perhaps a nice 12 string hmmmmmm. :)

Well thank you again.
cheers

This guitar keeps me awake until sometimes 2:00 and 3:00 AM..

I have hovered around writing to you for quite sometime about an instrument I recently bought. I have played for many years and have owned a marvelous dreadnaught guitar made in Tennesssee. Because I like to dabble in finger style guitar, I've wanted an instrument designed for that purpose.

In fact after more than 20 years of wanting such an instrument, I wandered into Cripple Creek Music in Ashland, OR one day in February and walked out with a dream come true. I actually purchased an OM Venetian cutaway with KOA back and sides. What have I done. I literally cannot put it down at times. It plays itself. I suppose I have played zillions of guitars and never have I even held anything like this. This guitar keeps me awake until sometimes 2:00 and 3:00 AM... What a piece of art. For whatever it is worth to you; thank you for taking the time to make this beautiful guitar.

The Morgan is the one I baby the most.

I recently found your website. I was beginning to think I was the only person who has discovered what a wonderful guitar the Morgan is. I have owned my DE-Rosewood #581 since the summer of 1999. I'm primarily a rock guitarist in Oregon. I've never subjected my Morgan to the rigors of smoke-filled bars. There are occasions when I sit in with a friend on an acoustic gig. The Morgan has held a special place in my heart. It's as pristine as when I bought it. I use it in my studio. The sound is so incredible. I own seven top of the line guitars. The Morgan is the one I baby the most.

Congratulations on such wonderful workmanship and sound!!

I purchased a Morgan a few weeks ago.  It is a Florentine cutaway, Koa back and sides, bear claw spruce top, with dragonfly inlay.  Congratulations on such wonderful workmanship and sound!!  I shopped for several months before making a decision, browsing everything I could see, and playing everything I could get my hands on.  The moment I saw this guitar, I knew I had to have it.  It has such wonderful balanced tone. By the way, my other steel string acoustic is a Jim Olson, #28, which I bought from Jim in 1979 when he was just starting out.  I have the Olson on the wall, and can't wait to play my new Morgan.

I spent months searching for the right guitar.

I Recently purchased an all Koa Dreadnaught guitar from a dealer of yours in Boise Idaho, Dorsey Music. First let me tell you that I spent months searching for the right guitar. I played probably 50 guitars. I was most impressed with your workmanship. Beautiful guitars that sound wonderful.  My wife surprised me with the guitar for Christmas (what a surprise it was!)
In the two days I've had this guitar, I haven't been able to set it down.

David,

My latest Morgan (I now have three)</b> comes with a somewhat bittersweet story.  I purchased it from a company that acquires undeliverable/ damaged/ unclaimed freight for the purpose of resale.  Apparently someone, somewhere is short a Mahogany Morgan OM.  Hopefully their insurance has covered their loss, it appears to have some finish damage on the back, lower bout and the original case was damaged/lost in transit.  Playwear is virtually non-existent.

It plays and sounds beautifully, as I've come to expect from your guitars.  It's very well balanced, very smooth when strummed, plenty loud. Fingerpicking is more my style and apparently what you had in mind when you crafted this guitar. I've heard the description given to rosewood guitars but I've never heard "bell-like" tones until I played this guitar. The sustain is incredible, considering the smaller OM size.  ... I swear I can feel the tones coming out of this guitar.

In the two days I've had this guitar, I haven't been able to set it down.  We've become very attached.  However, if you know of this guitar's original owner and if they are utterly distraught over the loss of this guitar, please pass my email address on to them.  I'd be willing to make arrangements to cover my costs and get it back to them, ... with the only condition, that you'll sell me an identical replacement.

Thanks

And the sound is better than its looks.

I just got a gorgeous koa OMV Morgan last week. It's the most amazing guitar I've ever seen. And the sound is better than its looks. It's a small body but it absolutely roars. Love it.

I own...all kinds of wonderful guitars but...what a joy it was to find Morgan.

I own Gibsons, Guilds, Martins and all kinds of wonderful guitars but I must say what a joy it was to find Morgan.

The concert model has the most balanced tone and top end sweetness...

I play a lot of celtic fingerpicking and the concert model has the most balanced tone and top end sweetness and sustain that I've encountered in any instrument. It also handles the low C with breathtaking clarity and depth.

sounds more astounding each day.

I recently purchased a concert cutaway which simply sounds more astounding each day.

I'm a sucker for quality and attention...

I'm a sucker for quality and attention to detail so I took a chance on a Morgan and picked up a concert venetian which I got about a week ago. It is one of the most balanced sounding guitars I've ever played not to mention how pretty they are.

...my morgan guitar is one of the things I love about coming home

Thanks again for building my Morgan OM rosewood. I spend a lot of time away from it as I tour and not all my gigs require steel string. But being able to play and record with it [my morgan guitar] is one of the things I love about coming home.

I cannot...tell you how much I enjoy...this wonderful instrument

I cannot adequately begin to tell you how much I enjoy and appreciate this wonderful instrument. While this guitar frets as easily and cleanly as any I've ever played, what is amazing to me is the responsive "bounce" I feel in my right hand. The beautiful tone, exceptional balance and Jimi Hendrix sustain are truly incredible.

The best way to recover from a horrible ice storm.

The best way to recover from a horrible ice storm. It's now part of the family with my beloved D28 and a couple of old Gibson dreadnaughts. No, I don't have talent just passion for the guitar. The Morgan OM is my first real fingerstyle guitar. I had another guitar for a couple years. Sold it to my butcher's wife and got paid with free meat for 18 months. My Morgan OM has a classy sober look, beautiful action, great balance and a sweet sound. The craftsmanship is perfect.

Thanks.

This guitar is truly a special instrument.

My Morgan guitar (OM cutaway, 100 yr. old brazilian rosewood ) arrived a few days ago and I have now had the opportunity to acquaint myself with its charms. This guitar is truly a special instrument. It has a wonderful tone, plays well and the craftsmanship is superb.

Thank you for building this little guitar.

Thank you for building this little guitar. While I'm very attached to my Martin and my other Morgan, this little OO is already giving me a great deal of joy. It was wonderful to play from the moment I first picked it up. I love it.

I'm working very hard at doing it [morgain guitar] justice.

My guitar is a joy to play. I'm working very hard at doing it [morgain guitar] justice.

I'm writing from our van en route to Berlin.

I'm writing from our van en route to Berlin. We should be there in about 2 hours or so. The weather is sunny and warm and we have only 6 shows left to play. Morgan, in German, is morning so at a certain time every day, everyone is telling me how good my guitar is.

Cleveland Johnson, Wa.
I love its simplicity of design and its beautifully understated elegance.

I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am with my new guitar. After searching for the better part of 2 months for a guitar with the right sound and appearance, I finally found it. It is the instrument for me. I love its simplicity of design and its beautifully understated elegance.

I'm back at work, grinding away, back to my routine.

I'm back at work, grinding away, back to my routine. There isn't a day goes by that I don't appreciate my Morgan dreadnaught. It just seems to continue to present me with new possibilities and no problems.

Thanks for the beautiful guitars.

Dear David,

Thanks for the beautiful guitars.

I have to split my time between work, studying ...eating, practicing my guitar and screwing...

I really like my new Morgan guitar without a doubt. I've been getting at least one half hour a day in on it which isn't much but unfortunately I have to split my time between work, studying German, eating, practicing my guitar and screwing Austrian chicks. OK so the last bit was just to see if you were paying attention. If I want to screw Austrian chicks, I'd have to give up my guitar- are you kidding, no chance of that!
...very complex overtones

Hi David,

Pleased to advise that a very good friend of mine has bought the rosewood OM which arrived here last week. I think he finally succumbed to months of temptation ( and envy )having played my one a lot. That is a really outstanding guitar with very complex overtones.

Regards,
Mike Berger.
What I'm trying to get at is: he was playing a Morgan guitar!

Greetings, My name is Chris Schraepen.

I live in Belgium and am a working musician. I love acoustic guitars. There's something I would like to tell you. Maybe you already know, but I'll tell you anyway. Last week I had the good fortune to see a concert by a Scottish musician I've admired for many years, but never had the opportunity to see live. I refer to Jackie Leven. It was an absolutely wonderful performance. He's a stunning singer and songwriter, he absolutely took my breath away. It was one of the best concerts I've seen in years.

What I'm trying to get at is: he was playing a Morgan guitar! I was not familiar with the brand, but I asked him after the show what make his wonderful guitar was, and he told me it was a handmade Morgan. He said it had cost 8.000 $, and that it was a present from his fans, who had set up a collection for him when his last guitar sort of disintegrated. (Shows you the kind of fans he has!) He praised the guitar highly, too. So I started to look for Morgan guitars on the Internet and hit on your site. (The guitars sure look wonderful, I wish I'd own one.) But in the "Player's Profile" Section I do not find Jackie Leven. I feel he should be in there, he's really a wonderful and inspired musician, who does your guitars proud!

Cheers,
Chris Schraepen
...plays lazy and cool

Jonathan Hill, UK

I have an OM (I think) , serial number 95 197 which sounds just wonderful and plays lazy and cool.

Love the sound.

Subject: in love with a guitar

David - your fabulous guitar finally arrived at the end of last week! It's hard to know what to say - as soon as i played it there was no doubt it was the right guitar, and believe me, I 've been a little worried that, for all its qualities, it might just somehow not be me. Its responsiveness is just outstanding - it makes things sound like a million dollars and I've already written some great stuff on it: the only problem with it is that it has seriously got in the way of my house-husbandly duties: (Debbie - 'i thought you were going to clean the fridge today, it's still full of that brown gunk - oh, of course, the guitar, well, I do understand...').

It's an amazing instrument, and I shall put a picture of it on the next album, and be an advocate wherever I go, starting in Vienna on Thursday. I do hope we may meet next year, so you can see how its getting on - all my thanks.

Love and best wishes..............Jackie Leven
My wife thinks I'm obsessed.

Doug J., Burnaby , BC

I sometimes get lost in it. My wife thinks I'm obsessed as I play it so often and so long. Currently working on Waltzing Matilda in E flat with jazz chords in a kind of smoky jazz/blues vein.
I Was having a "bad hair" day...

I recently purchased a Morgan Concert Cutaway - with a Spruce top and Pao Ferro sides and back. I Was having a "bad hair" day at the office today - and since I am  self employed I chose to take the afternoon off and come home to play the guitar(s) - plural - as in four of them sitting on guitar stands in the living room.

You can tell from that that all of our kids are long gone and the grandchildren have yet to arrive on the scene. The Morgan is sitting there proud as can be with the light from the living room window coming in at an angle that totally accentuates the bear claw Spruce - it is amazing - nothing else that I have even comes close to this guitar for aesthetic beauty - and I own a Breedlove, a Taylor, a Webber, and a McIlroy - all fine instruments in their own right - but the Morgan is in a class of its own for beauty and sound.

I just wanted to take a moment and share that with you - it helped to take my mind off "other stuff" - so thanks.

Steve
This concert cutaway turns heads.

We recorded with the new guitar over the past few days through the pickup system you installed and acoustically with a Neuman TLM. I got to tell you this was my second best investment out of 20 guitars I own. This concert cutaway turns heads. By the way, my best investment and probably will never be beaten is my Morgan OM. This is a monster. I have surrounded myself with many fine instruments over the years and Morgan hands down is my choice.
